We are delighted to welcome a new member to UKEOF.
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) is the UK's largest independent producer of official statistics, and is the recognised national statistical institute of the UK. ONS is responsible for collecting and publishing statistics related to the economy, population and society at national, regional and local levels, including the annual censuses every 10 years.
The ONS conducts environmental accounts showing how the environment contributes to the economy, the impacts of people on the environment and how society responds to environmental issues. This environmental accounting includes the development of natural capital accounts. Natural capital is a focal activity for UKEOF.
“We are delighted that the Office of National Statistics is joining the UKEOF. The ONS has a major interest in monitoring and observation of the natural environment, particularly given the ONS/Defra ambition to incorporate UK natural capital in the UK Environmental Accounts by 2020” said Anita Weatherby, UKEOF's Programme Manager & Secretariat Team Leader.
ONS is currently represented on the UKEOF Management Group by Emily Connors.
