The last major event of NERC's Constructing a Digital Environment Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) is ‘Digital – the key to unlocking Environmental Challenges’ and will take place on 5th September at the Royal Society in London. This event marks the culmination of the NERC ‘Constructing a Digital Environment’ programme that participants in previous events have helped guide through its journey. At the event we will have summaries of the key projects supported by the programme, and importantly NERC is also seeking to add the voice of key policy makers, environmental decision makers and the business community – showing the impact of our work and the themes of the programme.

The day will showcase the way digitally-enabled environmental science informs and supports policy makers and business practitioners. The translational application of the tools and techniques developed within the Constructing a Digital Environment (CDE) programme span a broad range of sectors and themes – from flood risk mitigation and prediction, to geohazard assessment, from biodiversity monitoring and assessment to citizen science applications and the use of smart environmental sensors. The practical application of AI, machine learning, machine vision and soundscape ecology will be highlighted, as will the ways of visualising and communicating complex environmental challenges and outcomes, and surmounting the data challenge.

There is more information about the event on the CDE programmes' website, where you can view the programme and register (registration is free).
