UKEOF's Citizen Science Working Group (CSWG) met in May 2024, during which they starting developing a standard questionnaire for environmental agencies and other bodies to consistently evaluate their citizen science activities.They also heard from speakers on a range of current initiatives: 

  • Natural England's work on frameworks to help local stakeholders understand how citizen science can support assessment of natural capital
  • Work by JNCC to create a resource library of methods and tools to support locally relevant, and nationally rigorous monitoring
  • NRW's screening tool to help applicants demonstrate how they have taken best practice in citizen science into account when requesting NRW support

Also discussed at the meeting was planning by the Better Biodiversity Data project in Scotland for an exhibition at Holyrood in September 2024 about the life cycle of citizen science data (from collection to impact).
